Effect of aging temperature on dimensional instability of invar alloys

Inthisarticle,theeffectofagingprocessondimensionalinstabilityofInvaralloyswasanalyzed.Whentheagingtemperaturenbsp;rangedfrom200#8451;to500oC,theorganizationoftheInvaralloywasaustenitephasegamma;-Fe.TheresidualstressoftheInvaralloyalsodecreasedsignificantlywiththeincreaseoftheagingtemperature.Thecoefficientsofthermalexpansion(CTE)oftheInvaralloydidnotchangeobviouslywiththeincreaseoftheagingtemperaturewhentheagingtemperaturewasbelow400oC.However,theCTEoftheInvaralloyincreasedsignificantlywiththeincreaseoftheagingtemperaturewhentheagingtemperaturewasabove400oC.Afteragingat500oC,theaverageCTEofthealloysincreased100%andthedimensionalinstabilityofInvaralloywasbad.
