Since systems of internet of things should meet some needs such as reliability, flexibility, security, and privacy to have long-term effect in cities, international and multinational organizations have introduced privacy as a crucial, supervisory policy as well as a legal challenge of 21st century. Hence, internet of things applications in smart communities have been introduced in present paper, existing challenges, in particular concerns about privacy of individuals and conflicts theoretically, methods and outputs have also been examined in this study. Moreover, the results of this study and required measurements for future have been provided in accordance with conducted studies. According to studied papers and communities, existing smart are located in USA, Italy, China, and Japan. The results obtained from this study show numerous constraints in this field so that we need collaboration of people and government to achieve success in use of internet of things in smart communities.
