Neuroscience in China 2000–2009: Introduction

摘要

The year 2009 marks the tenth anniversary of the foundingof Institute of Neuroscience (ION) in the Shanghai campusof Chinese Academy of Sciences. By invitation of the Editorof Science in China, ION investigators undertook the chargeof reviewing the contributions made by Chinese scientists invarious areas of neuroscience over the past decade. This is atimely task, as Chinese science is now undergoing rapiddevelopment with an unprecedented pace. While an exhaustivereview of all neuroscience publications “made in China”is not possible, we hope this volume does highlightsome of the recent progress made by our Chinese colleaguesand illuminate the path they are taking in this new frontierof basic science.
