Introduction: Postmenopausal osteoporosis is considered as chronic inflammatory state as it is characterised by elevation of various pro-inflammatory cytokines. Th-17 cell, a newly discovered subset of CD4+T cell, characterised by elevation of IL-17 cytokine, it’s role in osteoclastogenesis has been well established in rheumatoid arthritis and various inflammatory arthritis however its role in post menopausal osteoporosis is not well defined. After observing positive results in animal studies, we planned this study in postmenopausal women to evaluate difference in serum levels of IL-17 and IL-23 in post menopausal females having osteoporosis in comparison to non-osteoporotic postmenopausal female.
