Introduction on CO2 Geological Storage - Classification of Storage Options

Following the capture and transport processes, CO2 is stored in geological formations. This paper reviews the various underground storage options: depleted oil and gas reservoirs, deep saline aquifers, deep seated coal beds, caverns and mines. Each option is detailed in a separated paper following this introduction.
