摘要

Society today requires a conscious citizen, participatory and accountable in their way of life since his irresponsible lifestyle and unbridled consumerism has caused the unsustainability planet. Given this is put education as a training tool this citizen. This is fundamental to a critical and manufactures environmental education. Education is a form of social transformation and its not just an instrument for environmental and protection citizenship. Thus, environmental awareness is connected to the environment, conservation generating new principles, values and concepts for a new rationality, providing a prudent knowledge, questioning and the scientific paradigms questions based on the modern civilization. It is possible to understand environmental education as a process of building social values, knowledge and attitudes building towards environmental conservation by the community in the history course. In this context, this study aimed to verify the environmental education action developed at Municipal School of Early Childhood Education Gente Miúda Mata, RS. To carry out this research was selected bibliography which would direct the study, was developed and implemented after the survey instrument, in order to verify and analyze the approach to environmental issues in the context of the school. Thus, it was possible to identify little concern to update themselves on environmental issues and environmental education is not yet fully integrated into teaching practice, because it, taught in the school context is still being discussed little critical consciousness. This shows the relevant and urgent need for greater integration of teaching practices with social and environmental reality.
