Livestock response to long-term precipitation variability in the arid and semi-arid lands of Baringo County, Kenya

A research was conducted to validate the livestock market response to long- term observed precipitation variability. The precipitation data covering 1974-2003 was obtained from five Kenya Meteorological Department stations in the entire County. Theissen polygon method was used to estimate mean areal precipitation. The livestock marketing data for 1999-2003 was obtained from annual reports of the Department of Livestock Marketing.
