Phenotypic appearance traits in rural poultry in municipalities of Riberal del Lago de Patzcuaro

PhenotypicappearancetraitsinruralpoultryinmunicipalitiesofRiberaldelLagodePatzcuaroTheaimoftheresearchwastoestimatethefrequencyoftraitsofphenotypicappearancethatareexhibitedbylocalquot;Creolequot;hens.ThemethodologyconsistedofweeklysurveysindifferentpartsofthemunicipalityofRiberadelLagodePátzcuaro,Michoacán,México.Theresultswere(n=6,000)forfeathers:24.9%red,nbsp;21.3%black,16.8%brown,11.1%grey,19.1%othercoloursand7.2%withcolourtypicalofcommercialbreeds(BarredPlymouthRock,RhodeIslandRedandWhiteLeghorn).nbsp;Fortypeofcrest:98%simple,2%crinkled.nbsp;Colourofthelegs:36.8%yellow,29.7%pink,22.1%black,9.2%blue,2.2%green;withoutfeathers99.5;0.45%withfeathers.Typeofplumage:normal88.2%,nakedneck10.9%,curled1.3%.Ornamentaltraitsnbsp;werepresentin34%(28%withwhiteears,3%withquot;beardsquot;and3%withcrests).Itispostulatedthattheseresultsindicate,inpart,nbsp;theoriginofthequot;Creolequot;hensinMexicoandthedegreeofpenetrationofnbsp;genesfromquot;commercialquot;breeds.nbsp;Thefindingsalsoindicatepotentialareasofresearchorientedtowardsstudiesofproductiveadaptabilityandpossiblerelationshipswiththephenotypicappearancetraitsidentifiedinthisstudy.
