Althoughguineapig(GP)productionisbecomingmorewidespreadinWestAfricamostoftheworkonsmallholderGPprojectdevelopmenthasbeendoneinCameroonbytwoorganizations-HeiferProjectInternational(HPI)andtheInstituteofAnimalandVeterinaryResearch(knownbyitsFrenchacronymasIRZV).HPIisanon-governmentalorganization(NGO)thatiscommittedtosupportingintegratedandholisticruralagriculturaldevelopmentprojectsworldwide.IRZVisoneofthetworesearchagencieswithintheCameroonianMinistryofScientificResearch.Assuch,thefindingsfromthreestudiesconductedbyHPIandIRZanimalscientistshavebeenreviewedsothatthecurrentstageandfutureprospectsofsmallholderGPproductioninWestAfricacanbeassessed.
