TheobjectiveofthisstudywastoestimatethegeneticvariabilityofthegoatpopulationofAntioquiaColombia,usingheterologousmolecularmarkers.Six-hundredandtwenty-sixgoatbloodsamplesof14foldswereanalyzedforBM1329,BM1818,BM1824,BM6526,CSSM31,ETH10,ETH225,ILSTS005,ILSTS011,INRA006,INRA064,MAF065andSPS115microsatellites.TheBM1824wasmonomorphicandtheothersmarkersrangedfromfive(ETH225andSPS225)to20alleles(BM6526andMAF65).Thegoatpopulationpresentedahighproportionofheterozygotes.Thepolymorphicinformationcontent(PIC)indexwashigherthan0.50(from0.67to0.91)ineightmarkers:Therefore,thegoatpopulationofAntioquiahasahighgeneticvariability.Thebasepanelofmarkersshowedaprobabilityofexclusion(PE)greaterthan99.99%forallmicrosatellites,whichindicatestheusefulnessofthissetofmarkersforparentagetestinginthisspecie
