Effects of integrated components on available forage model in Southern rangeland of Iran

ThisstudydescribesthecomponentsofpastoralrangelandsysteminBakkan,SouthernIranandhighlightissuesrelatingtoforageendowmentandenvironmentaldynamics.Inthisstudy,properusefactorandpalatabilitymodelsandtheircomponentsusetodevelopthemodelofavailableforageandmeasureit.Thecomponentstopography,landsystems,vegetation,landuse,andgrassspeciescompositionchangeswereanalyzedusingGIS.Inthisstudysourceofinformationareherders,landandlivestockowners,researchinstitution,andpersonalfieldinspections.Responsestothequestionnaireswereobtainedfromlocalgovernmentofficesandresearchonrangelandsandanalyzedinparallelwiththeresultsofdetailedinterviewswithpastoralists.nbsp;Theresultsindicatethatonly6.2%oftherangelandisingoodconditionandtherestareinfair(44.9%),poorandverypoor(48.9%).Abouthalfoftherangelandareashowsapositivetrend,butaresituatedalongdistancefromthewateringpoints,soarenotfavorableforgrazinganimals.TherangeconditionsituationanditstrendinconsiderationofsoilandslopepropertiesinthisstudyindicatesthattherangelandinBakkanisafragileproductionsystem,sensitivetosoilerosionandrangelanddegradation,soforalongtimesustainableexploitationshouldbegoestominimizelanddegradationinthefuture,propermanagementandsustainableexploitationshouldbeimplementedinthefuture
