AfeedingtrialwasconductedtoinvestigatetheeffectoftoastedAfricanbreadfruit(TAB),Treculliaafricanaongrowthperformance,nutrientutilization,survivalandbloodparametersofClariasgariepinusfingerlings.Onehundredandfifty(150)fingerlingsofC.gariepinusofaverageweightof5.96±0.13gwerestockedandfedat5%bodyweightperdayfor56days.Fiveiso-nitrogenousdietscontaining40%crudeproteininwhichmaizemealwasreplacedbytoastedAfricanbreadfruitseedmealat0%(TAB0),25%(TAB25),50%(TAB50),75%(TAB75)and100%(TAB100)wereformulatedandprepared.Weightgain(WG)andfeedconversionratio(FCR)werenotdifferentfrom22.0gand1.71respectivelyinfishfeddietTAB50.Also,proteinefficiencyratio(PER)wasnotdifferentfromfishfeddietsTAB0(1.51)andTAB50(1.53)respectively.Then,PERdecreasedasTABincreasedinthediet.PackedcellvolumewashighestinfishfedTAB75(33.0%)andwashigherthan28.0%offishfedTAB100.nbsp;Fromtheaboveresults,yellowmaizecouldthereforebereplacedbytoastedAfricanbreadfruitseedmealat50%levelwithoutaffectinggrowthandnutrientutilisationand75%withoutaffectingthebloodprofileinthedietofAfricanmudcatfish,C.gariepinusfingerlings.
