TheeffectofintercroppingsomeforagelegumeswithmaizecroponbiomassyieldoflegumesandthegrainandStoveryieldofmaizewasdeterminedunderirrigationconditionofMegechbyusingaRandomizedCompletelyBlockDesign(RCBD).ThelegumesusedforundersowingwereVignaunguiculata,LablabpurpureusandViciaatropurpureaandthemaize-legumeintegrationweresoleMaize(SM),Maize+Vignaunguiculata(MU),Maize+Lablabpurpureus(ML)andMaize+Viciaatropurpurea(MV).Theresultsindicatedthatintercroppingforagelegumeswithmaizecropdidnotaffectthegrowth,grainandStoveryieldofmaize.ThebiomassyieldofindividualforagelegumesshowedthatL.purpureusgavethehighestforagedrymatteryieldandhigherthantherestofundersownforagelegumes.Withrespecttototalbiomassyield(BiomassyieldofForageandMaizeStover)MLyieldedthehighestbiomass.TheresultssuggestthatmaizegrainyieldandbiomassyieldofintercropscanbemaximizedforbothhumanandlivestockfeedingbyintegratingL.purpureuswithmaizecrop.
