ThisresearchisaimedatinvestigatingtheeffectsofacrossbreedingprogramonproductiveandreproductivetraitsofYellowlocalandF1crossbred(RedSindhixYellowlocal)cattleinthelowlandandmountainouszonesinQuangNgaiprovince,Vietnam.Thestudiedtraitswere:chestgirthdevelopment,ageatfirstcalving,gestationlength,timefromcalvingtopregnancyandcalvingintervalofthecrossbredandtheYellowcattle.nbsp;nbsp;Inthemountainouszone,theYellowlocalcattlehadahigherchestgirthgrowth/monthandabetterreproductiveperformance.Yellowlocalcattlehadanearlierageatfirstcalving,ashortertimefromcalvingtopregnancyandcalvingintervalthanthoseforthecrossbredcattle.Inthelowlandzone,thecrossbredcattlehadahigherchestgirthgrowth,butwerereproductivelynotsuperiortotheYellowlocalcattle.nbsp;nbsp;Theproductiveandreproductiveresultssuggestthatgenotypebyenvironmentinteractionsoccurontheproductiveandreproductivetraitsofcattle.Thepropagationandextrapolationoftheuseofcrossbredcattleshouldbecarefullyconsideredinlinewithfeedingpracticeandmanagement.nbsp;
