SesbaniabispinosaisoneofthenaturallygrowingseasonalwildlegumesincoastalhabitatsofsouthwestIndiahavinghighpotentialascovercrop,mulch,greenmanureandforageforlivestock.nbsp;Fungalassemblageanddiversityinsurfacesterilizedandunsterilizedtissues(root,stem,leaf,podandseed)ofSesbaniabispinosagrowinginthemangrovehabitatofRiverNethravathi,SouthwestcoastofIndiahasbeeninvestigated.nbsp;Thesurfacesterilizedtissuesyielded25endophyticfungiwithahighestof14speciesinroots.Aspergillusnigerwasthemostdominantendophyticfungusinalltissues(mean:32.6%).Amongthethreeendophyticfungiconfinedtoroots,Dactylosporahaliotrephawasatypicalmangrovefungus.FourendophyticAspergillusspp.wereconfinedonlytoseeds.Theendophyticfungaldiversitywashighestinrootsthanothertissues.Thesimilarityofendophyticfungirangedbetween16%(rootsvs.pods)and72%(stemvs.pods).Amongthe40fungirecordedinunsterilizedtissues,ahighestof22specieswasassociatedwithleaves.Fusariumoxysporumwasthemostdominantfungusinalltissues(mean:65.8%).About50%ofthefungirestrictedtoanyoneoftheunsterilizedtissues.TheSimpsondiversitywashighestinroots,whileShannoninleaves.Thefungalsimilaritieswererangedbetween12%(podsvs.seeds)and44%(rootsvs.stem,stemvs.pods).Amangrovefungus,Kallichromatethyshasbeenisolatedfromunsterilizedstem,leavesandpods.Exceptforseeds(p0.05),thefrequencyofoccurrenceoffungidifferedsignificantlybetweensurfacesterilizedandunsterilizedtissues(p0.001top0.05).nbsp;ThisstudyprovidesabaselinedataonfungalassociationwithSesbaniabispinosaforfuturemanagementofdifferentSesbanialandracesforthebenefitofagricultureandanimalhusbandry.nbsp;
