First,second,andthird-degreemixedpolynomialmodelswereevaluatedforgrowthtraitsusingfiveGyrxHolsteinmalecalvesfrombirthtoninemonthsofage.Theobjectivewastodeterminewhichmodelhadthebestfitfortraitssuchas:heighttothesacrum(AS),heighttothecross(AC),corporallength(LC),ileumtoileumdistance(II),ileumtoischiumdistance(IQ),ischiumtoischiumdistance(QQ),thoracicperimeter(PX),testesperimeter(PT),ribeyearea(AOL)andfatdeposition(EGS).nbsp;ThelinearmodelresultedinthebestadjustmentforQQandEGS.OntheotherhandAC,AOL,AS,II,IQ,LC,PTandPXadjustedbettertothequadraticmodel.Furtherstudiesarerequiredinordertoevaluatealongerperiodoftime,determiningiftherehasbeenanycompensatorygrowth,andifearlyrestrictionaffectslongtermgrowth.
