TostudythegrowthperformanceoffishChannapunctatus,tenexperimentaldiets(D1toD10)wereformulatedbyreplacingfishmeal(FM)withhydrothermicallyprocessedsoybean(HPS)atfourinclusionlevels(25,50,75and100%)fromthecontroldietwithandwithoutsupplementingthedietswithmineralpremixandamino-acids(MPA).nbsp;Studieshaverevealedanenhancementintheliveweightgain,growthpercentgaininbodyweight,specificgrowthrate,apparentproteindigestibility,proteinefficiencyratioandenergyretentioninthefingerlingsfedondietscontainingHPSathigh(75-100gmg-1ofdiet)nbsp;inclusionlevels.Crudeprotein,fatandenergycontentsinthefishbodyalsoincreased,whilethoseofmoistureandashdecreasedsignificantly(P0.05)inthefishfedondietswheremostoftheFMwasreplacedwithHPS.AnanalysisofthewatersamplescollectedfromthetreatedwatersrevealedthattotalammoniaandreactivephosphateexcretiondecreasedwithincreaseintheinclusionlevelsofHPSinthedietsdepictinganegativecorrelationwithgrowthanddigestibilityandpositivewithfeedconversionratio.Suchareplacementcouldsavetotalfeedcostsandalleviatepollutionproblemsinintensiveaqua-culturalsystems.
