Inmostcountriesoftheworld,therabbit"industry"largelyconsistsoflimited-resourcefarmerswhomaintainsmall-scaleoperationswiththeaimofproducingmoremeatandincome.Atthe8thWorldRabbitCongressheldinPueblain2004,theSmall-ScaleRabbitProductionModel(SSRPM)waspresented.Overall,theSSRPMconsistsofthethree-tieredspheresofinternal,intermediate,andexternalfactorsthatcanbeusedasaplanningtooltoimpacttargetbeneficiarieswhoarelimited-resourcefarmers,predominatelyfromlesserdevelopedcountries.Itiscriticalthattheprojectplannerand(or)managerconsidersthefinedetailanddynamicsinvolvedbetweenandwithinfactors.TheSSRPMisflexibleandcanbemodifiedaccordingtolocalconditions.TheobjectiveofthispaperistofurtherdevelopandexpandontheintermediatefactorsoftheSSRPMthatinvolvethedimensionsofprojectdevelopment:feasibility,design,implementation,monitoring,andevaluation.Arabbitdevelopmentprogrammeisbasedonawell-definedgoalandsupportingobjectives.Projectfeasibilitydetermineswhetherornottherabbitprojectshouldbestarted.Ifthedecisionismadetoinitiatetheproject,thenaprojectdesignorblueprintneedstobedeveloped.Afterwards,theprojectisreadytobeimplemented,whichoftentimesbeginswiththeselectionoffarmersforrabbittraining.Oncefarmersengageinproduction,theywillneedtobecarefullymonitoredtoensurethattheprogrammeobjectivesarebeingmet.Lastly,onceformallyterminated(i.e.,fundingsupportisceased),theprojectshouldbeevaluated,whichresultsinareportthatreflectsthelessonslearned.Insummary,adoptionoftheSSRPMcanserveasaguidetotheprojectplannerand(or)managertohelpensureultimateprogrammesuccess.
