Abstract:Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of auricular plaster therapy combined with moxibustion in elderly patients with functional constipation. Methods A total of 120 elderly patients with functional constipation were randomly divided into the study group and the control group, with 60 cases in each group. All the patients were given routine nursing care, and the experiment group was given auricular plaster therapy combined with moxibustion. The constipation symptom scores and anorectal manometry indexes were compared between two groups. Results The constipation symptom scores of the study group were significantly lower than that of the control group after treatment(P<0.05). The perception threshold initial defecation and rectal anal inhibitory reflex threshold were better improved in the study group than that of the control group after treatment (P<0.05 or P<001). Conclusion Auricular plaster therapy combined with moxibustion can improve clinical symptoms of functional constipation in treatment of elderly functional constipation.
