：Objective To investigate and analyze the current status of mental rehabilitation of specialized psychiatric hospitals in Nantong area, and put forward some rationalized suggestions. Methods 〓The basic information of rehabilitation work and the staff working on mental rehabilitation as well as the condition of rehabilitation projects were surveyed and analyzed in 9 specialized psychiatric hospitals in Nantong area by self-made questionnaire and field investigation. Results At present, the major problems of specialized psychiatric hospitals in Nantong area included incomplete places and equipments, insufficient medical rehabilitation personnel, unfulfillment of medical security system and a great difference between class 1 and 2 hospitals and class 3 hospitals. Conclusion 〓Government departments should make joint efforts with specialized psychiatric hospitals in Nantong area to improve the current situation in such areas as mental rehabilitation facilities, venues, management and personnel training, pay equal attention to the hospital rehabilitation and community rehabilitation to gradually restore the social functions of patients and reduce the occurrence of mental disabilities.
