：To observer the external application of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)Wufang power in conservation treatment of lumbar disc herniation with blood stasis syndrome. Methods 〓Totally 120 patients with lumbar disc herniation of blood stasis syndrome were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 60 cases in each group. Patients of two groups were given lumbar traction and Shentong Zhuyu decoction, and those in the observation group were given external application of TCM patches with Wufang power. The clinical efficacy of treatment and degree of low back and leg pain were assessed. Results 〓There was no significant difference in overall effective rate between two groups(96.67% vs. 96.67%, P0.05). The markedly effectiveness rate in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(83.33% vs. 58.33%, P0.05). The visual analogue scale(VAS)for pain was decreased in two groups after treatment, and VAS score in the observation group was lower than that in the control group(1.63±0.63 vs. 3.10±0.96, P0.05). Conclusion 〓The external application of Wufang power is effective to relieve the low back and leg pain of patients with lumbar disc herniation of blood stasis syndrome.
