Abstract:Objective To explore the clinical effect of warm moxibustion combined quadriceps exercises on functional rehabilitation after total knee arthroplasty. Methods 〓Totally 90 elderly patients with unilateral total knee arthroplasty were randomly divided into group A, B and C, with 30 patients in each group. Patients in all three groups were given routine rehabilitation after surgery. The quadriceps exercises were carried out in group B,and the warm moxibustion were added in group C. The surgical knee joints' passive movement pain by visual analogue scale(PVAS)and knee joint range of motion(ROM)were dynamically observed at 4 weeks after operations. The Hospital for Special Surgery Knee Score(HSS)of knee joint were assessed for joint function at 6 weeks after operation. Results 〓The postoperative pain of three groups were gradually relieved, and the ROM of knee joints were gradually increased. The improvement of group C in postoperative pain and ROM was better than that in group A and B. The PVAS of group C was significantly different with that of group A and B at 3 and 7 days after surgery(P0.05). Patients in group C achieved better ROM compared with those of group A and B, with a significant difference 7 days after operation(P0.05). The overall HSS score was highest in group C and was lowest in group A. The function, muscle strength, stability and reduction items of patients in group A were significantly different compared with those in group B and C(P0.05). Conclusion 〓Warm moxibustion combined quadriceps exercises is more conducive to the rehabilitation of knee function after total knee arthroplasty.
