Abstract:Objective To investigate the effects of high-frequency chest wall oscillatory device on sputum excretion in patient with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)accompanied by pulmonary infection. Methods A total of 80 patients with COPD accompanied by pulmonary infection were assigned to the vibration group(n=40)and the oscillation group(n=40), with vibration sputum elimination device and high-frequency chest wall oscillatory device respectively. The daily sputum volume at day 1 and day 3 after treatment were recorded. The heart rate, respiratory rate and oxyhemoglobin saturation were compared between two groups. Results The sputum volume was higher in the oscillation group than that of vibration group at day 1 and day 3 after treatment, with significant difference(P0.01). There was no significant difference in heart rate and respiratory rate between two groups after treatment(P0.05). The oxyhemoglobin saturation was higher in the observation group than that of controls, with a significant difference(P0.01). Conclusion High-frequency chest wall oscillatory device is effective in sputum excretion for patients with COPD accompanied by pulmonary infection.
