Abstract High temperatures in summer or winter increased the total branch length, branch numbers, and the number of nodes on young apricot trees. High nutrition promoted an increase in branch length, branch and node numbers, and flower-bud initiation. These latter responses seemed to be largely due to the level of nitrogen. There was no difference in response to nitrate, ammonia, or urea nitrogen. Growth and reproduction of apricot trees are discussed in relation to nutrition, light intensity, temperature, and water availability.
