：Objective To investigate and compare the effect of normal medical gauze, Vaseline gauze, Biatain foam dressings and Algoplaque hydrocolloid dressings in prevention of pressure ulcer of the lip in patients with endotracheal intubation. Methods 〓Totally 80 patients with endotracheal intubation were assigned to the control group, group A, B and C, with 20 cases in each group, The normal medical gauze, Vaseline gauze, Biatain foam dressings sand Algoplaque hydrocolloid dressings were used as dressing materials were used in the control group, group A, B and C, respectively. The incidence of pressure ulcer of the lip was compared among four groups. Results 〓Three were 10(50.00%)cases of pressure ulcer of the lip in the control group and 4(20.00%)cases in the group. None of patients in group B or C developed the pressure ulcer of the lip. Conclusion 〓Biatain foam dressings and Algoplaque hydrocolloid dressings are effective to prevent the pressure ulcer of the lip in patients with endotracheal intubation. The dressing should be selected properly according to the individual situation of patients.
