Abstract:Objective To understand the cognition on breast cancer and breast self-examination of middle aged women in rural areas of Jilin Province, and to provide the basis for the development of female breast cancer health education in rural areas. Methods 〓Questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the cognitive status of breast cancer and breast self-examination in 500 women aged between 35 and 55 years old in five rural areas of Jilin Province. Results 〓there were 470 valid questionnaires collected for the further analysis. The result illustrated that 76.17% of women did not understand the predilection site of breast cancer, and 69.78% of women did not understand the early symptoms of breast cancer. Only 15.53% of women had knowledge of breast self-examination methods and 19.79% of them underwent breast self-examination regularly. Conclusion 〓Middle aged women in rural areas of Jilin province are lack of knowledge of breast cancer and breast self-examination. it is required to carry out health education to improve the cognitive level of middle aged women in rural areas.
