Root rot of peas in New Zealand caused by Aphanomyces euteiches

Abstract Aphanomyces euteiches Drechsler is described in New Zealand for the first time. The fungus was isolated from 7 pea fields in parts of the Nelson and Canterbury districts. Characteristic symptoms and oospores of this pathogen were observed on peas grown in soil from 13 other fields during the 1977–79 seasons.
