Blind seed disease of ryegrass in New Zealand

Abstract Application of urea at rates between 56 and 448 kg. ha૑ to ryegrass plots either in spring or at ear emergence, produced no significant differences between treatments in the numbers of apothecia of Gloeotinia temulenta (Prill, and Del) Wilson, Noble, and Gray recorded per plot. Spring urea application significantly reduced blind seed infection and increased seed germination at all but the lowest rate, but the ear emergence application was not significantly different from the untreated check.
