Some preliminary observations on factors affecting the temperature at the skin surface of the New Zealand Romney sheep

Abstract The effects of unilateral cervical sympathectomy and of various vasodilator and vasoconstrictor drugs on the skin temperature of the face of the Romney sheep are described. The results are discussed in relation to the use of such techniques in examining the relations of blood supply and wool growth. It was concluded that sympathectomy was the best experimental technique for increasing cutaneous blood supply over a long period without additional effects which might confound any experimental results.
