Comparative evaluation of biometric parameters of cotton at kapas picking stage

摘要

The present investigation was undertaken to study the biometric parameters of the cotton crop grown in the region for further facilitating in designing a suitable mechanical cotton picker for the varieties grown in the region. The maximum?height was observed for NCH-145 variety and the minimum was observed for RCH-2 variety. The maximum width was?observed for NCH-145 variety and the minimum was observed for NHH-44 variety. The mean height of lowermost boll varied?from 7 cm to 9 cm and height of upper most boll varied from 102 cm to 126 cm. The average number of fully opened bolls?varied from 22 to 36. The average number of partially opened bolls varied from 3 to 5. The maximum number of bolls were?located at the height of 61 to 80 cm in case of NHH-44 variety and at a height of 41 to 60 cm in other two varieties. The?maximum number of bolls were located within the radial distance of 41 to 50 cm in case of NHH-44 variety and at a distance?of 31 to 40 cm in the other two varieties.
