On the basis of seizing cases, sinking of aluminum coverings of steel vertical tanks, in order to study the causes and improving the design of floating covering, a mathematical model for hydrogasodynamic calculations in the software package FlowVision is elaborated. The model allows reproducing the processes occurring during the reservoir operation and its impact on the aluminum covering.Counter roll, sinking, to remain in equilibrium state under the action of external forces, the important components of the aluminum pontoon.The analysis of influence of storage product, operation conditions on aluminum pontoon is carried out while hydro gas dynamic calculations are being performed, extreme positions are being modeled, that allows working on the task of improving the level of protection of a considered floating object from tipping over and sinking .In order to study the internal forces, the nature of the deformation of the aluminum pontoon from loading of petroleum products in the case of jamming, it is necessary to make linear analysis of the tank with a pontoon, with the use of an integrated system of structural analysis and design of structures Structure CAD Office, which will analyze the stress-strain state of the construction of pontoon.In order to study the stress-strain state of floating covering construction in operation, the task is set to simulate a RVSP - a vertical cylindrical steel tank with floating covering, in order to calculate covering strength. The article presents a detailed, step by step simulation, in order to enable the reader to learn the basics of modeling in the strength calculation with various loads and structures.Strength analysis of aluminum floating covering together with the data of hydrogasodynamic calculations provide a comprehensive study of the processes occurring during the operation of the floating covering. On the basis of the strength analysis the peculiarities and short comings of the floating covering construction operation are revealed, accordingly the task is set to elaborate a construction of covering frame with improved strength characteristics
