In the article there have been presented the results of adsorption of chromium III, occurring in aqueous solution in a cationic form and Cr(VI) occurring as an anion on WG-12 and F-300 activated carbon. The process was carried out on unary and binary solutions containing additionally cations of lead, cadmium, nikiel, copper or zinc. In case of cations adsorptions most frequent mechanism is ions replacement, but removal of cations can also take place via created complex areas, or can be the result of the reduction and oxidization process, or precipitated insoluble compounds. The process of sorption is much more complicated if removal of cation or ions is from policomponents, where competition ions occur. In case of Cr (III) the presence of sorption in all solution the tested cations caused a decrease of sorptions effect, ions Cd (II) had the least effect on this phenomenon. In the majority of cases during sorption Cr(VI) of in case of solution containing a cation of another heavy metal, a decrease sorption capacity in relation to the tested anion was observed.
