摘要

Due to recent technological advances, the devel-opment of mechatronic systems shift from only integratingthe mechanical, electrical, electronic and computer systemsto an evolutionary development of systems, capable ofcomplex decision making, adding intelligence to a me-chanical design or even replacing mechanical designs withan intelligent electronic solution. Embedded systems playan important role in this process which is based on findingan optimal interconnection between the basic mechanicalstructure, sensors and actuators, information processingand control. The relation between the field of embeddedsystems and mechatronics becomes even more significantas the intelligence of embedded systems can bring value-added services for mechatronic devices as well as ensureother essential product characteristics such as reliability,enhanced performance, fail-safe operation and interopera-bility.
