The future of vernacular architecture which creates asubstantial part of cultural heritage depends on variousfactors which develop in connection with the economic, socialand cultural life of each country Current development bringswith it fundamental changes in human activities and in livingstandards in almost all regions both rural and urban. One partof the peasant population is migrating to towns and cities,another part is building new dwellings at new locations in thecountryside; many old homesteads and villages have beenabandoned. The increasing concentration of the population inurban agglomerations entails a great demand on building sitesnot only in centres of cities but also in suburban areas. Manysites are being cleared or clearance is contemplated.Consequently much of the old vernacular architecture is underthreat
