As we go into October’s Domestic ViolenceAwareness Month, it seems thatmore people than ever are talking abouthow this public health issue is affectingour communities. The current conversationhas been propelled to the nationalstage by high-profile NFL cases, butevery day, similar incidents occur inRhode Island. Each year, approximately10,000 Rhode Islanders receive domesticviolence services, and others maynot seek services at all. Health careprofessionals are often in a unique positionto make a difference in the lives ofthese victims.
