This paper considers the role of cartography within the analysis of cinematic geography and addresses thesimilarities and links that are forged between film, space, and mapping. The authors establish a theoreticalapproach that justifies and contextualizes their methodological and heuristic positions. The second part of thepaper focuses on methodological questions and issues that arise as a result of mapping in feature films.Finally, maps drawing on cinematic representations of Hong Kong are presented. This cartographic applicationfacilitates a pragmatic response to the questions and issues previously highlighted.
