摘要

As Indian industries are becoming increasingly desperate to cut costs in the face of projected low demand following COVID-19, automation and digitisation initiatives which have begun to appear in the industrial water sector could be given an additional boost. Reliance Industries and the Tata Group, two of the largest industrial conglomerates in the country, have already embarked on a cost-cutting drive, starting with pay cuts ahead of other measures. Sources told GWI that water and wastewater O&M service providers have been asked to reduce their billing by 30% or more as their industrial clients desperately look for measures to meet cost-cutting targets. Already impacted by nearly two months of erratic production during COVID-19 and amid projections of soft demand for the rest of the year, industries have also clamped down on capital spending on all non-essential projects.
