The whole aspect of a certain space, i.e. its landscape, is determined by basic physical geographical elements, especially by relief, waters, vegetation and depending on human being presence, intensivity of his work. The characteristic of Croatian littoral landscape are: a preponderance of white grey limestone, lack of red skeleton soils, poor vegetation consisting of light green pine and green maquis and all nuances of sky and sea azure, expressed in superabundant combinations of their variations and contrasts. Owing to the fast increasing interest in the littoral, its sublime landscapes have been seriously jeopardised, in fact, they have been disappearing slowly. Aspiration to preserve it, and an active approach to its protection might be best illustrated by the example of the space plan of Srima /locality near ?ibenik/.
