HYCOM highresolution eddying simulations

摘要

Over the past 15 years, a broad partnership of institutionshas collaborated on developing and demonstrating theperformance and application of eddy-resolving, real-timeglobal and basin-scale ocean prediction systems using theHYbrid Coordinate Ocean Model (HYCOM). This paper isintended to briefly summarise the current status of globalhigh resolution eddy-rich or “eddying” HYCOM simulationsand their relevance to high resolution coupled oceanatmosphere-ice climate simulations. In this context, eddyrich or “eddying” means that the numerical simulationsare eddy-resolving over most of the domain and include anenergetic mesoscale eddy field.
