CONFORMACIóN DE IDENTIDADES LOCALES Y CULTURA MATERIAL: UN ANáLISIS DESDE LOS “SISTEMAS DE CONOCIMIENTO LOCAL INDíGENA' Y LA PRODUCCIóN DE ARTE TEXTIL

This article proposes a debate on identity issues combining the analysis of, on the one hand, material culture produced within the local indigenous community and “local indigenous knowledge systems” and, on the other hand, the transmission of this knowledge and the channels through which it is passed from one generation to another. Thus, there are some questions that guide our line of work, for instance: Is it possible to say that there is an identity reflected on material culture? Is the artistic style impregnated on textiles a sign of it? Is there any link between the identification of certain images, their understanding and the belonging to a determined group? Do we identify with what we understand? We consider that this approach on local identities shapes is orientated toward the analysis of change in society and it points at how community processes are reflected on material registers, taking into account both its production (textile pieces) as well as their representations (cultural landscape). Finally, the research proposal is settled on Social Network Analysis, a methodology used for studying the layout generated by textile production and knowledge transmission’s channels. Moreover, we find in anthropology of art an allied which allows us link material production with local community socio-cultural features.
