摘要

Lemons & Brown (2011, this issue) contend that con-vincing scientific evidence about the threats posed byglobal climate change (GCC) and their anthropogenicnature have been available over the past few decadesthrough the 4 IPCC reports and a host of other studies. It is also amply clear that any procrastinating attitude intackling this challenge will mean far-reaching adverseconsequences for which the present generation, as thetrustee of the global environment and its resources, cannot avoid responsibility. Besides, Lemons & Brown(2011) are also right to point out that GCC also givesrise to several ethical questions, firstly because the na-tions likely to be worst-affected are among the leastcontributors to greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; sec-ondly GCC affects people who are among the poorest;and thirdly because the global scope of the impacts ofGCC can only be mitigated through co-operative actionfrom multiple governments.
