This paper is an extension of our previous work[1]. In this work, the series hydraulic hybrid model of a TruckClass II is established for both forward and backwardsimulation. At first, dynamic programming (DP) methodologywas applied to estimate an optimal-benchmark solution for theproposed system over a pre-selected driving cycle. The optimalcontrol trajectories include the engine power threshold, theoperating range and the initial value of hydraulic accumulatorpressure was inherited to establish the improved rule-basedcontrol strategies. The improvement of system fuel economywith different control strategies were assessed and compared.
