In the title molecular salt, C6H8N+ C8H4NO6 , the anion is deprotonated at the carboxylic acid group adjacent to the nitro group. In the crystal, the anions are linked into an [001] chain by O—HO hydrogen bonds. The cations are linked to these chains by N—HO hydrogen bonds and weak C—HO contacts, generating a three-dimensional network.
