IMPACTO DA DEMANDA PARA DESSEDENTA??O DO REBANHO BOVINO NA DISPONIBILIDADE HíDRICA: O CASO DA BACIA DO RIO LONTRA

This work aims to estimate the water demand for herd cattles in the Lontra river’s watershed placed in Araguaina, a micro region of Tocantins State. With geoprocessing tools, agricultural areas were identified in the municipalities within watershed and it was possible to proportionally calculate the percentage of concentrated cattle in each agricultural area of each locality. From rough average values of cattle’s daily consumption it was calculated a water demand estimation for animal watering in the studied watershed. The demand was between 0.756 m3/s and 3.022 m3/s, considering the minimum and maximum consumption per animal. The water critical level of the watershed was estimated from water demand / availability ratio for this exclusive use (animal consumption). It was observed that in the dry season it is necessary to take control measures and to better manage water resources where water availability is reduced and there is a significant increase in demand for this use.
