摘要

Formulated Nutshell (FNS) particles are used in drilling fluid preparation to strengthen the sidewalls of the wellbore by forming a thin layer of filter cake. FNS have replaced the marble because of its smaller size. Marble particles are generally sized more than 400μ, which is difficult to maintain during mud circulation because of its high density and rate of settling. To reduce the size of marble needs more energy & equipment, which increases the financial burden on investors. Naturally available nutshell materials may overcome the problem associated with marble particles. The laboratory tests also confirms that FNS is resistant to swelling and have low impact on mud properties but it agglomerates in circulation which is manageable. In this paper, how the addition of FNS with drilling mud will enhance the wellbore strengthening is discussed and verified using the laboratory methods.
