摘要

Reactive Oxygen Species is a phrase used to describe a number of reactive molecules and free radicals derived from molecular Oxygen. The production of Oxygen based radicals is the bane to all aerobic species where its excessive levels intern induces oxidative stress. The present study is to evaluate the anti-stress property of Acorus calamus (vacha), where the fruit flies in different groups are assayed for Stress related marker enzymes like SOD, CAT, and GPx. Where its activity in Stress induced flies (MTX treated) has increased compared to that of control flies. After incorporation of the plant sample there is reduction in level of these defensive enzymes there by vacha has increased the ability to scavenge ROS lowering the free radical concentration and reducing the expression of stress related marker enzymes in the stress induced flies. Thus, vacha may have anti-stress property i.e ability to reduce the level of ROS
