The PU foam was synthesized from palm kernel oil-based polyol reacted with 2, 4-methylene diphenyl diisocyanate. Polyurethane as lightweight aggregate w as mixed with ordinary cement, sand , and water to form lightweight concrete. The m icrostructure of PU aggregate can be accessed from optical micrographs. Density, compressive strength, distribution of fine aggregate , and the interfacial zone were also investigated. The result showed that palm-based lightweight concrete ha s excellent compressive strength (17.5 MPa) , and fulfil led the minimum strength requirement for structural concrete. Palm-based lightweight concrete with 0.6 w/c ratio and 3% w/w PU system achieved 1770 kg/m 3 presented uniform dispersion of aggregate and excellent mechanical bonding. /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-priority:99; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0cm 5.4pt 0cm 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0cm; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-ascii-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-theme-font:minor-fareast; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-theme-font:minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-bidi-theme-font:minor-bidi;}
