摘要

The inhibitive action of extract of Phyllanthus fraternus leaves as corrosion inhibitor for mild steel inH2SO4 solutions was investigated using conventional weight loss, gasometric techniques,electrochemical polarizations and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results showed thatthe extract of Phyllanthus fraternus leaves performed well as inhibitor for the corrosion of steel insulphuric acid media. Inhibition efficiencies increased with increasing concentration of the plantextract but decreased with the temperature rise. Both the cathodic hydrogen evolution and the anodicdissolution of mild steel was inhibited, hence the active molecule of the extract studied acted as amixed type corrosion inhibitor.
