Polymer electrolytes composed of a blend of poly(vinyl chloride)oly(ethylene oxide) (PVC/PEO) asa host polymer, lithium triflate (LiCF3SO3) as a salt, mixture of ethylene carbonate (EC) and dibuthylphthalate (DBP) as plasticizers and silica (SiO2) as the nanocomposite filler were studied. Thevariation in ionic conductivity values for PVCEOiCF3SO3BP揈C:SiO2 complexes at differentsilica content were observed. The highest ionic conductivity value obtained for this system is at-4 3.320 S/cm with 5 wt% of silica. The LiNi0.8Co0.2O2/ PVCEOiCF3SO3BP揈C: SiO2 /st MCMB cell shows a discharge time of 522 minutes at 1 cycle. From the discharge part of the curves,the discharge capacity of the cell can be calculated. The discharge capacity observed for Li搃onst polymer battery based on PVC/PEO blend electrolyte at 1 cycle is 50 mAh/g. The nominal voltageversus cycle number plot for LiNi0.8Co0.2O2/ PVCEOiCF3SO3BP揈C: SiO2 / MCMB cellshows that the nominal voltage decreased quite significantly after the first discharge cycle anddecreased slowly as the cycle number increases.
