Peat is unconsolidated superficial deposits with high non-crystalline colloid (humus) content, constituting the subsurface of wetland systems. Electro-osmosis is one of the electrokinetic phenomenaand consists of the motion of liquid through a microporous medium under the influence of an appliedelectrical field. Electro-osmotic behavior of peat with regard to its degree of humification wasinvestigated. The results of the study showed that the water flowed from the anode to the cathode dueto the negative surface charge of the peats. The coefficients of electro-osmotic conductivity ranges of-06 -05 2 -1 the peats were from 4.9110 to 1.5710 cm Vs . The greater degree of humification resulted inhigher electro-osmotic conductivity and higher coefficient of electroosmotic water transport efficiency.
